The awards pay tribute to today’s most influential and iconic Latin artists, as voted by the fans in the tradition of the “American Music Awards,” the world’s largest fan-voted award show. Fans can vote for their favorite artist online visiting http://www.LatinAMAs.com/vota. The “Latin AMAs” nominees are based on key fan interactions with music, including sales, airplay, streaming and social activity tracked by Billboard through its data partners Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound for data covering the periods of Aug 10, 2018, through July 25, 2019. The selection of the Favorite Video category is based on videos submitted by record labels and independent producers and selected by a committee of industry professionals.
Created in 1973 by Dick Clark, the “American Music Awards” is one of the biggest music awards shows in the world, watched in more than 200 countries, and Telemundo’s “Latin AMAs” is quickly accumulating its own popularity. Last year’s show celebrated women in music and was hosted by Aracely Arambula, Becky G, Gloria Trevi, Lesley Grace, and Roselyn Sanchez. The show dominated TV ratings reaching 2.2 Million adults between 18-49 and ranked as the #1 most social program of the day across all broadcast and cable networks.
