Two-day creative session for Marc Anthony and Magnus’s upcoming musical projects gathered

NEW YORK, Sept. 22, 2016 – ASCAP (American Society for Composers, Authors and Publishers), the world leader in performing rights and advocacy for music creators, and Marc Anthony’s MAGNUS Media, hosted this year’s Song Camp in Miami at Anthony’s MAGNUS Studios on September 20th and 21st.
The two-day creative session, led by Marc Anthony and sponsored in part by the ASCAP Foundation, brought together an impressive group of established and up-and-coming songwriters of all music genres. The resulting songs will be considered for future Marc Anthony and Magnus Media artist projects.
ASCAP and MAGNUS participating songwriters included:
FEID
Feid sings, composes, produces, plays piano, guitar and records his own music. He has over 150 compositions including “Ginza” by J Balvin and “Secretos” by Reykon. In 2015, he released his first EP, Asi como Suena which includes nine tracks produced by major reggaeton/urban producers. The single “Morena” landed him at #1 on all radio stations in Colombia.
GABE SIMON
A transplant to the Nashville music scene from South Carolina, Gabe Simon began his career writing for and fronting the indie-rock band Kopecky. Signed to ATO Records (My Morning Jacket, Alabama Shakes), the group found Triple A and alternative radio success. Gabe has maintained a steady life of touring, while producing and writing songs for projects including Dua Lipa, Cherub, Striking Matches, Vinyl Theatre, Morgan Karr, Billy Rafoul, and Gin Wigmore.
JULIO REYES
Songwriter, composer, producer, pianist and arranger who has worked with renowned Latin artists, including Ricky Martin, Alejandro Sanz, Marc Anthony, Nelly Furtado, Jennifer Lopez. He has won eight Grammy and Latin Grammy awards and notched over fifteen #1 songs on Billboard charts over the last several years.
LEONI TORRES
Cuban singer-songwriter who has composed for film and TV and released 3 albums of his own music. Currently recording his 3rd salsa CD.
MADMUSICK
MadMusick consists of brothers Giencarlos and Jonathan Rivera. They worked with Daddy Yankee on “Limbo,” which spent 22 consecutive weeks at #1 on the Billboard chart, as well as with Yandel, Wisin, Maluma, Zion and Lennox, Danny Dayan, Alexis and Fido, among others. “Limbo” was chosen for the videogame “Just Dance” in 2014, released for Wii consoles, PS3 and Xbox 360 for Europe, United Kingdom and America.
MARIO ALBERO CÁCERES PACHECO
“Cáceres” is a young and multifaceted Venezuelan artist, where he is well known as a songwriter, singer, music producer, audio engineer, Grammy winner and multiple Grammy nominee. Has worked with many international artists such as Camila, Chino y Nacho, Reik, Sin Bandera, Alejandro Fernandez, Wisin, Marco Antonio Solis, and others.
PRINCE CHARLEZ
Songwriter from Compton, CA. His recent writing credits include Rihanna “Needed Me” (on ANTI), Beyonce’s “Ring Off,” Jessica Mauboy’s “Beautiful” and Usher’s “More.” Currently working with Kehlani, Mary J Blige and has previous releases with Quincy Jones, Kendrick Lamar, T.I., Backstreet Boys, and others.
MEDARDO ROVAYO (RAMANI)
Ecuadorian singer/ songwriter of romantic salsa. Has released four albums. Most recently wrote all the songs for an album by Don Felipe Muñiz, Marc Anthony’s father, including a single called “Dejé de Amar,” a Felipe Muñiz and Marc Anthony duet collaboration.
SOAKY SIREN
Raised in the Bahamas and currently living in Los Angeles, songwriter Soaky Siren writes songs that are jam-packed with personality: effortlessly catchy and always a bit left-of-center, loyal to no single style but endlessly stylish. Co-penned the instant classic R&B jam “Body on Me” for Rita Ora featuring Chris Brown. More recently wrote “Don’t You Need Somebody” by RedOne, featuring Enrique Iglesias, R. City, Serayah & Shaggy, now climbing the Billboard charts.
TUSHAR APTE
Tushar Apte is an Australian writer/producer/composer based in Los Angeles. He had a pop charting hit with Chris Brown’s “Zero” and recently signed to Warner Chappell Music Publishing. His other work ranges from songs with Adam Levine from Maroon 5 to scoring some of the biggest television shows including The Biggest Loser for NBC and shows for the BBC. Upcoming singles include Steve Aoki and Matt Simons.
ASCAP established the Song Camp in 2008 as a creative platform for collaborations between songwriters, artists, publishers and labels. Since its inception, Song Camps have been held in Miami, Los Angeles, Monterrey, Nashville, and Mexico City.
This is the first Song Camp hosted at MAGNUS.
